Romanian Gambling Conference, an extraordinary edition dedicated to the new legislation


ROMBET, as a partner of the event, along with representatives of the gambling industry and the officials who regulate this area, participated Tuesday, May 26, at Floreasca Club in Bucharest at an extraordinary edition of the Romanian Gambling Conference.

The event gave the opportunity to legislators and those affected by new legislative amendments to debate the new rules that will apply to the gambling industry in Romania.

Present at the event, Odeta Nestor, president of ONJN, declared: "I would like to thank the businesses and associations that have been with us, worked and supported the law. I consider this law a fair one, adapted to the European standard. A law which greatly limits the possibilities of tax evasion, fraud and brings the gambling industry in Romania where it belongs. The new law will eliminate unfair competition. I'm sure that the online field will develop in parallel with the land based operations".

Daniel Florea, deputy and member of the Judiciary Committee, officially invited by ROMBET, congratulated the industry representatives and the ONJN officials for all the dedicated efforts made for the new legislation. "I congratulate you first because you have a law, because you made an effort to have this law. ONJN has done a great work. Perhaps, after the law will be published and implemented, we will hear about some problems. But I think it is a good law. The Office and the Parliament will be able to solve those problems by working together", he said.

ROMBET’s President, Dan Ghita, was present at the long-awaited event together with the Executive Director, Dan Iliovici, Vicepresident Anchidim Zăgrean and other members of the Association.

As the new legislation is of great interest to foreign investors, the conference was attended - at the ROMBET’s invitation –by the representatives of BMM Testlabs - a company that tests gaming systems and serves the gaming industry for more than 30 years.

The representatives of the gambling industry in Romania found out at this event the probable period of time for the final norms of application for the new legislation - after July 10.

The event ended with a gala premiere "The feminine in gambling" which recognized outstanding merits of the ladies who work in this field. Among those awarded was Mrs. Angela Elisei, CFO of SuperBet, a member of our Association. She was rewarded for special involvement in betting.
