In early November, Rombet association attended the World Regulatory Briefing Eastern Europe in Warsaw. The conference, which attracted important names in the gambling field, had a special section dedicated to our country and entitled "Market Opportunities in the flourishing Romanian sector: A year post regulation." Mr. Dan Iliovici, Rombet senior vicepresident, was the host of the session, and Mrs. Odeta Nestor, ONJN President, was one of the important guest names that attended the conference.
On the background changes that occurred last year in Romania, with the implementation of new regulations in the field of gambling, our country has become one of most interesting markets in Eastern Europe for potential investors. Curious to know how the gambling industry has changed in recent months, they participated in large numbers in the panel moderated by Rombet senior vicepresident. "It was a very dynamic session, with a long list of questions from those present proof of the interest they have in our country. Our conclusions were that Romania is a very attractive market, unlike Poland for instance, where amendment of the law has been dragging on for a long time, while the black market is over 90%" said the Rombet representative, after finalizing the discussions.
The interventions of Mrs. Odeta Nestor, who was the sole representative at the highest level, of regulatory body present at the conference, have contributed greatly to the success of our panel. The session, successfully moderated by Mr. Dan Iliovici, has aproached sensitive issues, but of major interest to those present. The transparency of the licensing process in Romania, the level of taxation, lack of excessive bureaucracy - are all advantages for our country, issues highlighted by all those present at the conference. It has also been emphasized the good communication between gambling operators and ONJN both during the process of drafting the new legislation and subsequently within the institutional framework through the Consultative Council.
"It was a heated debate that will certainly be remembered as one of the highlights. One year after the opening of the Romanian market, and first WrB Eastern Europe, the panel met to discuss the performance of the regulation and the market, with clearly differing opinions on the success of regulations." said Ms Ewa Bakun (Head of Content, Totally Gamin), summarizing perfectly the essence of the discussion concering our country.
